NOTICE TO 2012/13 LOAN APPLICANTS

During the exercise of processing 2012/13 loan application forms the Board has identified loan applications which are missing some vital information. Therefore the Board would like to inform these students that such incomplete applications will not be considered. 

Loan applicants from this group shall be required to come to the Board to collect their incomplete forms, go, update and return them to the Board. No loan shall be allocated to such student before returning the updated application form. Applicants who have not signed their documents are required to report to HESLB offices at Tirdo Complex, Kimweri Road, Msasani- Dar es Salaam for further details.

Applicants who have not attached (to their application forms) guarantor’s particulars such as photocopy of Passport or voter’s registration card or passport size photograph should send the missing particulars to the Board with a covering letter indicating their full names and form four index numbers through the following address:

1.TCU YATANGAZA NAFASI ZA MAOMBI KWA AWAMU YA PILI(SECOND SELECTION)

Announcement to the prospective applicants on the second round of application.

Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) informs all prospective applicants that, applications for admission into higher learning institutions for the second round of application, will start on 13^th August 2012. The second round of application will involve:

a)New applicants (Form 6, Teachers, FTC, NTA Level 6 and applicants with foreign certificates) who did not have the opportunity to apply during the first round of application; or

b)Applicants who were not selected during the first round of application due to various reasons and whose names will be published on the TCU website or have been notified through their individual accounts of this fact.

NOTE:

i) Applicants who applied but for some reasons they were not selected, are not required to pay another application fee instead they will only be required to choose another program by logging into their accounts.

ii)The list of applicants who were not selected and hence are required to re-apply will be on TCU website on Tuesday 14^th August 2012.

How to apply

Applicants will apply through the Central Admissions System and applications will be treated on the first-come first-served basis this means the applicant is required to choose only one program he/she qualifies basing on program requirements given in the ‘Students Guidebook’ available on TCU website. Each programme is tied to an institution and that means the process involves one programme at a particular institution only.

Application fee for new applicants

·       Tanzanians will be required to pay an application a non-refundable fee of TSHS.30,000/- payable through NBC branches country wide,

·       Non-Tanzanians will be required to pay US$60 through CAS Account at any NBC bank countrywide (TCU-CAS Acc. No.074139000021), and

·       Non-Tanzanians residing outside Tanzania will be required to pay US$60 through CAS account number (TCU-CAS Acc.No.074139000021). The swift code: NLCBTZTX.

Deadline for application 
The deadline for applications for all categories will be on 25^rd August 2012.

1. MIKOPO YA ELIMU YA JUU

Idadi ya wanafunzi waliopata mikopo kupitia Bodi ya Mikopo ya Wanafunzi wa Elimu ya Juu imeongezeka kutoka wanafunzi 91,568 mwaka 2010/11 hadi wanafunzi 93,176, mwaka 2011/12.

2. ONGEZEKO LA VYUO VIKUU NCHINI

Vyuo Vikuu vitatu (3) vilianzishwa ambavyo ni: Eckenford Tanga University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture na University of Bagamoyo; na Vyuo Vikuu vishiriki vitatu (3) vilianzishwa ambavyo ni: Jordan University College; St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences; na St Joseph College of Engineering and Technology.

3. ONGEZEKO LA UDAHILI WA WANAFUNZI-NGAZI YA SHAHADA

Wizara ilifanikiwa kuongeza udahili wa wanafunzi katika vyuo vya Elimu ya Juu kutoka wanafunzi 139,638 (wanawake 49,959) mwaka 2010/11 hadi wanafunzi 166,484 (wanawake 60,592) mwaka 2011/12. Hili ni ongezeko la asilimia 19. Aidha, idadi ya wanafunzi madaktari wa binadamu, meno na tiba ya mifugo iliongezeka kutoka 1,750 mwaka 2010/11 hadi 1,900 mwaka 2011/12.

4. ONGEZEKO LA UDAHILI WA WANAFUNZI-NGAZI YACHETI NA STASHAHADA

Wizara ilidahili jumla ya wanachuo 37,698 katika ngazi ya Cheti na Stashahada. Hili ni ongezeko la asilimia 2.9 ukilinganisha na idadi ya wanachuo 36,648 waliodahiliwa mwaka 2010/11 ambapo, walimu 292 kati ya hawa ni wa fani ya Elimu ya Michezo.

5. MAFANIKIO YALIYOPATIKANA

(a) Udahili katika Vyuo vya Ufundi Stadi na Vyuo vya Maendeleo ya Wananchi vinavyotoa elimu na mafunzo ya ufundi stadi uliongezeka kutoka 102,217 (wanawake 50,190) mwaka 2010 hadi 121,348 (wanawake 56,849) mwaka 2011, ambalo ni ongezeko la asilimia 27; Vyuo vya Elimu ya Ufundi (Technical Education and Training) vilivyosajiliwa viliongezeka kutoka 224 mwaka 2010 hadi kufikia Vyuo 260 mwaka 2012.

(b) Udahili wa wanachuo katika Vyuo vya Ualimu vya Serikali na visivyo vya Serikali uliongezeka kutoka wanachuo 36,648 (wanawake 16,597) mwaka 2010 hadi 43,258 (wanawake 18,898) mwaka 2012.

(c) Idadi ya Vyuo Vikuu iliongezeka kutoka 34 mwaka 2010 hadi 46 mwaka 2012; na udahili wa wanafunzi wa Vyuo Vikuu uliongezeka kutoka wanafunzi 139,638 (wanawake 87,778) mwaka 2010/11 hadi kufikia 166,484 (wanawake 60,592) mwaka 2011/12.

(d) Idadi ya wanafunzi waliopatiwa mikopo kwa ajili ya Elimu ya Juu iliongezeka kutoka 91,568 mwaka 2010/11 hadi kufikia 93,176 Mwaka 2011/12; Aidha, Wizara ilianza mfumo wa kupokea maombi ya mikopo kwa njia ya mtandao (Online Loan Application System – OLAS).

The following candidates have been selected to join various programmes offered by the Institute of Accountancy Arusha for the 2012/2013 academic year.  The candidates are required to carefully read the admission information given below:

1.    Arrival
Candidates should report at the Institute on Monday, 1st October, 2012 for orientation week. Candidates reporting after 12th October, 2012 will not be registered.

For Masters Programmes Arusha Campus, orientation and registration will start on Monday, 24th September, 2012; and for Dar Campus, orientation and registration will start on 1st October, 2012.
Applicants who have been selected to join the certificate programmes are required to attend a 4 week bridging course which will starts on 3rd September, 2012.
2.    Classes
Classes begin on Monday, 8th October, 2012.
3.    Required Documents
All selected candidates must bring with them originals and two copies of their school leaving and academic certificates, a duly filled medical examination form, birth certificate, three identical colored passport size photographs and other documents relevant to their registration.
4.    Admission Letters

Admission Letters and Joining Instructions will be mailed through your respective addresses.  Selected candidates are required to pay relevant fees in advance before joining the Institute.  To expedite the process candidates may collect their letters from the Institute’s Admissions Office.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE PROGRAM IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (EVENING PROGRAM)

INTRODUCTION

Computing is one of the fastest growing areas of industry in the world, including developing countries.

Thus, the need for information technology (IT) work force is high everywhere. Institutions of higher education are often expected to meet that need. Several IT programs in African universities have been directly adopted from other continents (especially Europe and America) and implemented in African universities without paying attention to how well the curriculum content fits local needs. This poses the threat that the knowledge and skills that students gain in their education are not fully relevant due to the technological situation and cultural background of the country.

The degree is aimed at developing five competency areas: programming and software engineering, network administration, web development and e-business, hardware and software support, and general academic competency. Strands of ethics and law, multimedia, robotics, team working, interdisciplinary, innovation, leadership and management, sustainable planning, life-long learning, customer service, environmental responsibility, and global responsibility are woven into a number of courses in the curriculum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The student entrance requirements are based on the following conditions and categories:

Category A: Equivalent qualifications (Diploma holders)

Applicants eligible for equivalent admission to the degree program must have either:

– A diploma in information technology with an average grade of no less than “B” or a diploma in a related field from a recognized (accredited) institution

OR

– Met entry requirements at an accredited university in the applicant’s home country (for foreign applicants) subject to approval by the IUCO Academic Board and the Tumaini University Senate.

Category B: Entrance examination qualifications

Applicants who have at least two principal passes, but have less than 4.5 total points on the ACSEE must pass the Tumaini University, Iringa University College entrance examination which consists of mathematics and physics.

Category C: Mature age entry

Applicants eligible for mature age admission to the degree program must:

– Be of 25 years of age or older in the year of application

– Have completed Form IV (or equivalent) at least five years prior to the year of application

– Have attended extra-mural classes or residential courses and submit a letter of recommendation from the tutor, or have attended a residential course at an Adult Education College and submit a letter of recommendation from the principal

– Pass the Tumaini University, Iringa University College entrance examination which consists of mathematics and physics
